Cholesterol Blood Test Patient Preparation

The advances in technology and medicine that have taken place over the course of the last two decades have helped us to establish a more health and body conscious society. The cholesterol blood test services offered through Health Network Laboratories are a critical part of ensuring that patients carefully monitor and correct the high cholesterol levels that can lead to more unhealthy conditions and afflictions. Unless otherwise directed by their physicians, patients should ideally suspend the use of their cholesterol medications for three to four weeks prior to testing.

The accuracy of the blood lab test results is also dependent on the patient fasting for 12 to 14 hours prior to testing, with exceptions for water and essential medications only. These are only general guidelines; every patient should consult with their referring physician for personalized instructions on how to prepare for these important tests.

Fast Blood Lab Test Results

An essential aspect of providing quality patient care is ensuring that diagnoses are arrived upon as quickly as possible so that treatment can begin without delay. This is a high priority of Health Network Laboratories with each of the blood lab test results we process. Many of the labs within our network operate around the clock to maximize the efficiency of our operation.

Results from the cholesterol blood test described above, for instance, are typically available in two days or less. Many of our other most common tests can be processed even faster, leading to earlier diagnoses and more advantageous treatment regimens.
